Almotamar.net - The Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum (SCER) informed the Joint Meeting Parties' candidate for presidency Faisal Bin Shamlan that publishing his platform on alsahwa.net violates the law of the presidential election directory prepared by the SCER.

In a statement to the motamar.net, information officer of the SCER Abdu Al-Janadi said, "We have informed Bin Shamlan about the violation he made. We sent him 500 copies of the presidential election directory, and asked him and other candidates to stick to the law."
Al-Janadi affirmed the SCER will discuss such violations and apply the legal measures mentioned in article (132) of the election law, which stipulates that " Without contravening stricter punishment provided for in Penal Laws, any person convicted of any violations of the provisions of Part Four of this law shall be punishable by a maximum (6) months imprisonment."

It is not appropriate for a candidate to start his campaign by breaking the law, Al-Janadi went on to say, because the battle for peaceful transfer of power and democracy is a battle of laws. "The best candidate is the one who can set a good example in sticking to the law. Candidates have a 28-day period for their various campaigns."

Regarding statements made by some politicians of the JMP on the SCER's practices towards Bin Shamlan, Al-Janadi said "Politicians make statements without reference to the constitution and law. Creating problems far away from law doesn't require a reaction."
