Almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh received today in Sana'a the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mono Shaher Muttaqi. Saleh affirmed that Yemen lays much importance on enhancing the relations with Iran, reaffirming the right of Iran or any other Islamic country to possess nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
In their meeting, Muttaqi conveyed a message from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to President Saleh regarding the relations between the two countries, and ways of strengthening them, as well as the Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Palestine.
In his message, the Iranian President praised Saleh's stances in supporting Islamic issues, affirming Iran's keenness to enhance the relations between Yemen and Iran to achieve their joint interests.
The two sides also discussed the developments at the regional and international level, as well as Iranian nuclear file and the situation in Iraq.
Saleh also asked Muttaqi to convey a message to the Iranian President , wishing him and the Iranian people progress and prosperity .
Meanwhile, the Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi held talks today with his counterpart Muttaqi in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "His visit to Sana'a is a continuation to previous talks and seek the best ways to enhance the relations between the two countries, as well as to discuss the current situation in the region especially amid the Israeli attacks on Lebanon," Al-Qirbi noted.
Al-Qirbi affirmed that Muttaqi's visit to Sana'a reflects the special relations between the two countries. "Holding talks gives the two countries opportunities to exchange views regarding the current situation, which would serve the peace and stability of Arab and Islamic countries," Al-Qirbi added.
Al-Qirbi made it clear that achieving a wide-ranging and fair peace in the region is important for both Yemen and Iran, mentioning that Israeli attack on Lebanon has claimed the lives of thousands of children and elderly people, in addition to destroying the infrastructure.
He hoped that the UN Security Council Resolution 1701 on the Israel-Hezbollah war would be a real beginning for resolving the Arabi-Israeli conflict.
The two sides also discussed the developments in Lebanon and Palestine, and the challenges that face the joint Islamic action and the ways of developing and reactivating it. Discussions included the relations between Yemen and Iran and the ways of developing cooperation fields that would serve the interests of peoples in the two countries.
