Almotamar.net - Official sources of the Ministry of Interior on Tuesday closed down 85 shops for selling weapons and munitions in different governorates and detained 48 persons over cases of selling arms. That comes in the wake of instructions issued by the Minister of Interior Monday on tightening the grip around weapons traders all over Yemeni governorates.

Pursuant to orders of the Interior Minister, that come in continuation of the campaign on banning entrance and carrying weapons the Ministry had launched last August, security authorities in the capital and provinces will sent daily reports to leadership of the Ministry on shops of selling weapons and ammunition that have been closed down along with names of dealers that re retained.

At a later time the Minister of Interior General Mutahar Rashad al-Misri gave his orders to security authorities of nor releasing arms dealers who have been detained today but under his personal orders.

Until the end of last May the number of unlicensed weapon pieces seized by security authorities amounted to 126365 caught during the past nine months, since the authorities began the campaign o banning weapons inside the provincial capitals.

It is worth mentioning that the decision of prohibiting the carrying of weapons in the cities is received with large-scale unanimity and relief of different segments of the Yemeni society.
