Almotamar.net - A Quranic school teacher, who belongs to Islah Party, slapped on 12 August a student in Amran governorate for having views opposing to his.
Local sources told the motamar.net that the teacher turned the Quranic lectures to propaganda against President Ali Abdullah Saleh, favoring the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) candidate, at which the student got upset. "I shall only elect President Ali Abdullah Saleh," the student replied, which caused the teacher to harshly slap him.
This led to a tribal tension, where influential tribal leaders in the district were asked to settle the problem, the sources noted.
Local sources also told the motamar.net that teachers who belong to the Islah Party make numerous violations in the district as they exploit Quranic schools to spread political propagandas that stand against the country and General People Congress candidates under the cloak of teaching Quran.
Locals also asked the Ministry of Endowments and Ministry of Education to take strict measures against those trying to incite sedition in mosques and Quranic schools, and using such places for political purposes.
Meanwhile, a number of locals, in a statement to the motamar.net, called for forming field committees to observe the process of teaching in Quranic schools, especially in villages controlled by extremist Islah Party members.
