Almotamar.net - Yemeni Journalists Syndicate (YJS) announced Monday the postponement of its 4th Conference, which was scheduled on 26 of this month, to 22 November 2008 in. the decision comes response to , what it seems, pressures by journalists , independent media establishments and the government in Yemen.
The decision of the YJS came after continued meetings of the journalists union council it held over the past two weeks. Member of the YJS council Hamdi al-Bukar said the council agreed on a set of preparations including drawing up a new law for the press, rules of procedure a code of ethics as well as considering in the delayed membership that was in the union for long and was not decided in addition to considering demands of the union's branches. He said due to these circumstances and for finding a large discussion of these documents and for preserving the entity of the union as united and effective it was decided to postpone the conference.
