During her meeting with two members of the American House of Representatives from the Democratic Party, Ms Alban cast light on the existing arrangements for raising the level of the woman representation in the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2009.

On their part the two members of the American House of Representatives , Ms Johnson and Ms Watson , have expressed their happiness for meeting the Yemeni minister and their admiration of her role in the field of human rights and the vital position the Yemeni woman is occupying at present.

The Yemeni Minister Huda Alban had participated in an international conference in Washington last week, organised by the World Bank on partnership for the change and development of the Arab woman capacity in both the private and public sectors.

I her address to the conference the Yemeni minister pointed out the most prominent decisions of the Yemeni political leadership for upgrading the level of the woman participation in all government and private sectors. She said the woman in Yemen has become a minister, a judge, an ambassador, Member of Parliament, member of the local authority and an indivisible part in the security and national defence system, adding that the woman also plays a tangible role in private sector establishments and commercial houses.
