Almotamar.net - The Specialized Penal Court has Sunday released Basheer al-Adeemy, one of the persons accused in the case of the Watani Bank in return for a guarantee that he would repay half of his indebtedness to the bank.
In the court session held today Sunday under chairmanship of Judge Najib Al-Qadiri and presence of prosecution deputy Khalid al-Mawardi, the prosecution accused president and members of the bank's board of squandering the bank's finds and taking loans that exceeded the proportion decided for them without presenting enough guarantees.
Deliberations at the session also pointed out granting loans and facilities to tradesmen and companies amounted to more than two billion riyals in addition to more than other one billion riyals without guarantees or documents deposited in the bank' archive. The court on the other hand refused to release defendant Ahmed al-Hamadani until it will be confirmed with regard to the guarantee he had presented in response to request of the prosecution. The court then decided to adjourn its session to next Sunday.
