Almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh on Sunday explained to leaderships of the General People's Congress (GPC), opposition parties of the National Council and both Baath Nationalist Socialist parties and sons of Yemen League party the developments in the Yemeni national arena, among them aspects related to draft constitutional reforms.

A consultative meeting held Sunday dealt with issues and developments in the national arena especially the draft of constitutional reforms, presently under discussion at the Shoura council and aimed at developing the political and democratic system, draft amendment of election law developments of the situations in Saada and practices of some terrorist elements aiming to instigating hatred and disturbing social peace in the country. The president pointed out of those amendments for the development of the political and democratic system through establishment of two legislative chambers enhancement of the local rule by moving to the large-powered local rule.

The President asserted keenness of the leadership on consultation with all concerning those amendments for realisation of the national interest.
The meeting also discussed working papers and visions presented by the meeting on establishment of alliance, coordination and cooperation between the GPC and parties of the Opposition National Council and other parties taking part in the meeting with the aim of realising the national interest and enhancing the democratic and pluralist experiment as well as expanding he people's participation through enhancing local rule enjoying large powers.

The meeting set up a joint committee from the parties participating in the meeting to study all what was mentioned in the working papers and visions presented in order to come out with joint perceptions on the convenient formula for the establishment of this national democratic alliance on grounds of commitment to national constants particularly the constitution, the revolution, the republic , the unity , realisation of the national interest in the first place and enrichment of the democratic practice.

President Saleh also talked about the ongoing deliberations on amending the elections law and formation of the elections commission for preparation of suitable climates for holding the upcoming parliamentary elections with transparency in their fixed date.

The President also reviewed the situations in Saada, indicating to the efforts for preserving bloodshed of the Yemenis but the terrorist rebellious elements of al-Houthi responded to those efforts with rejection and continuation of perpetrating terrorist acts in aggression on innocent citizens and members of the armed forces and security, attacking public and private property and blocking safe roads. The President clarified that those outlaw terrorist elements work through their backward and racial thoughts to turn back the wheel of history and they receive support from external p [arties seeking to settle their accounts on the Yemeni territories and at the expense of the Yemeni blood. President Saleh emphasized that the state is determined to put an end to that sedition by all means and to spread the authority of law and order.

The President also confirmed the role the political parties and organisations and civil society organisations can play in enhancement of the national alignment for all that would serve the homeland and achievement of its higher interests.
