Almotamar.net - Acting Secretary General of the General People's Congress (GPC) Abdulrahman al-Akwaa affirmed Monday keenness of Yemen's leadership, government and people as well as political parties on the unity of the Palestinian rank as that is the essence for confronting the Israeli occupation and lifting the blockade on the people of Palestine.

In his meeting today with delegation of Hamas movement currently on a visit to Yemen headed by chairman of the movement's politburo Khalid Mishaal, al-Akwaa the political leadership, the government and the GPC are keen to provide convenient atmospheres for a Palestinian national dialogue in the light of the Yemen initiative launched by president Ali Abdullah Saleh and accepted by the Arab summit in Damascus.
Al-Akwaa also pointed out that the important thing is conviction of the Palestinian factions in the necessity of dialogue and reaching a national accord, stressing the necessity that all of the factions should offer concessions to each other in service of the Palestinian people interests, who are the most harmed from continuation of divisions between Fatah and Hamas.

Hamas leader Khalid Mishaal praised the Yemen stand represented by the President, government, people and the GPC in support of the Palestinian cause. Mishaal renewed Hamas stand that supports reaching a Palestinian national accord in the light of the Yemeni initiative.
Mr Mishaal also presented a full review of the events happening in the Palestinian arena and the efforts exerted to implement the points included in the Yemeni initiative since the signing of Sana'a Declaration between the movements of Fatah and Hamas on 22 of last March stipulating acceptance of the Yemeni initiative for healing the rift of the Palestinian rank and enhancement of the national unity.

The meeting also discussed the bilateral relations of the two countries and between the GPC and the movement o f Hamas.
