Almotamar.net - General People's Congress (GPC)'s Assistant Secretary General Sadeq Amin Abu Ras said in an interview to Al-Mithaq newspaper published Monday what is happening in some southern governorates of desperate attempts to return Yemen to pre 22 may 1990 come as part of a continuous series of the 1994 period by those who adopted in that sedition the re-partitioning of Yemen.
Mr Abu Ras pointed out that those who have left for the sea and for the neighbourly countries after the victory of national unitary forces over that sedition are today still following the same pursuit to achieve the goal for which they have left for, i.e. tearing at the body of the unity internally and externally.
In his response to a question on the acts of rebellion and terror in some districts of Saada carried out by elements following al-Houthi Abu Ras said this group is not affiliated to anybody and has no relationship with Al-Zaidiya or certain family. He pointed to its bringing of another thought of which he said is the making of some Islamic countries, adding " we cannot describe it (the group) but as they are outlaws."
On the current political scene and dialogue and arguments between the GPC and the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP), the GPC Assistant Secretary General said it is the right of the JMP to demand the leveling of the electoral ground field but that leveling should be for the sake of achieving a certain goal and desire, stressing on the necessity that the priority is to be the public interest.
While Abu Ras affirmed the GPC readiness to hand over power to the JMP in the event of its winning the elections he accused the JMP of trying to preoccupy the GPC away from its national duties. He said the GPC as a ruling party wants to apply the law and order and for that it loses many of its members and it has also to work as a state and organisation, which is a difficult matter compared to their task as opposition.
