Aden Mayor Ahmed Al-Kohlani denied the news that MP Sultan Al-Samei- a representative of the Joint Meeting Parties in Taiz governorate- was detained for accompanying armed companions in Aden streets as published by some news websites.
Al-Sameis armed companions were arrested while touring Aden streets with a number of arms pieces, and they were asked to hand them over to security authorities, Al-Kohlani added.
The armed companions were detained according to the law which applies to all people, including ministers, mayors, and all officials, Al-Kohlani noted.

In a statement to the motamar.net, Al-Kohlani said, Members of Parliament are supposed to encourage concerned authorities to apply the law and to set an example for others.

MP Al-Samei told the nasspress news website that he had ordered his companions in the constituency No. (68) in Taiz governorate to detain all the security committees there if he or any of his armed companions were detained upon entering Aden city.

Some Joint Meeting Parties news websites mentioned that Al-Samie was detained yesterday as military vehicles chased him and his armed companions, and brought them to the Aden-based Al-Mansoura police station, where they were detained for several hours.
