Almotamar Net - A security source in the governorate of Abyan, Yemen said Saturday the security committee at the governorate held Friday evening a meeting chaired by governor Ahmed al-Maysari to discuss sending a security campaign in a bid to release two Colombian engineers kidnapped by a gunmen group from Abyan governorate. The source told almotamar.net that the committee approved launching a joint security campaign from Abyan and Shabwa led by directors of security of both governorates and commander of Shabwa army brigade to surround the kidnappers that are more probably hiding between the two areas of al-Mahfad and Ahwer.

The source added the two kidnapped persons work at the project of liquefied gas in the governorate of Shabwa and was kidnapped with their driver and a security companion by a group of gunmen while they were heading for their work at the pipelines of the project. He said the kidnappers carried out their operation when the engineers' car encountered failure. After kidnapping they took the Colombian experts to an unknown destination between Mahfad and Ahwar in Abyan.

Reliable sources from Mahfad and Ahwar said the kidnapers demand the release of their sons detained over kidnapping two government cars in Abyan as well as the demand to pay blood money compensation to one of the sons of the tribe who was killed three months ago after he killed a security soldier.
