Almotamar.net - Acting Secretary General of the of the General People's Congress (GPC) Abdulrahman al-Akwaa affirmed Saturday the responsibility of the GPC for consolidation of the democratic pursuit and its protection because democracy is the sole way for the peaceful transfer of power, remarking that it is regretful that the "brothers in the JMP do not believe in peaceful transfer of power."
Al-Akwaa added the GPC welcomes the opposition that has sense of responsibility rather than opposition for extortion saying," We have to be against attempts of the some the use of religion in the frame of political interests." He pointed out that impediment of the development projects was the main goal of the JMP, stressing that the GPC would not allow attempts for the destruction of the homeland in whatever way and would stand up to them.
During his chairing of a consultative meeting of the technical committees in the capital and the governorates that started on Saturday, al-Akwaa clarified that most violations that occurred in electors records were made by the JMP and the Yemeni Congregation for Reform (Islah) party had the bigger share in them.
For his part the chairman of the organisational control body Yahya al-Shamy affirmed that meeting comes as a cornerstone for the GOC's electoral launch as it represents the beginning for preparation for the parliamentary elections scheduled in April next year elections
The Assistant Secretary General for Information Sector at the GPC Dr Ahmed Ubaid Bin Daghr said the GPC would go to the upcoming parliamentary elections with the rest of the parties of the National Democratic Alliance as it is concerned with success of the electoral process, unlike other parties that do not possess public opinion or majority, they find they are not concerned about holding the elections.
