In his address at a Ramadan evening held in Sana'a Monday said despite that political p [arties and organisations are the title of democracy and not its instruments, democracy flourishes with the existence of political parties and organisations.

He added," We as political parties and organisations have to join hands and work for building this democratic edifice to assure the world that we practice competitive democracy, free and honest. "

Dr al-Eryany also affirmed that the General People's Congress (GPC) would not close its door to any organisation or party working for the success of the upcoming electoral process and he called on leaderships of the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) to join forces with the GPC and the rest of parties and organisations in Yemen for the success of the elections.

He also pointed out that the attempt to impede the elections was because of the GPC but those who hindered the reaching of an accord concerning the elections law and formation of the elections commission although the GPC accepted all the alternatives they have presented. He said the upcoming elections are very important and the battle for it has begun for a year or more in the dialogue with the JMP in order to reach a new amendment to the elections law and formation of the elections commission, but, he added, despite that the dialogue carried out between the GPC and the JMP reached to positive results the JMP has at the last moment backed down from it had been reached.

He considered that situation imposed itself on the leadership of the state, represented by the President and the two legislative and executive powers in that they should bear their constitutional responsibilities to go ahead in setting up the supreme Commission for Elections as a constitutional necessity to begin preparations for the upcoming elections in accordance with the constitutional and legal dates.
