Each of al-Mouayad and Zaid was sentenced to imprisonment of 75 and 45 years respectively in a trial held in 2005 after they were condemned with charges of conspiracy for providing financial support and sources of income for foreign terrorist organisations.

According to the appeals court the two Yemeni citizens can now stand new trial before a new judge.

The deputy defence of al-Mouayad he was pleased for decision of the court, describing it as right in accordance with the law and the facts and hoped that his old client would be granted the chance to return to his family in Yemen.

It is to be recalled that al-Mouayad and Zaid were arrested in an intelligence operation in Germany and the case raised against them by the government mainly depended on secret videos of conversations between the two condemned persons and two agents fro the FBI hiding in a hotel in the city of Frankfurt in 2003.
