By: almotamar.net - SANA'A-- The motamar.net has come to know that the Ministry of Telecommunication has warned mobile telephony operation companies not to make use of short message services (SMS) for the interests of political parties.
The ministry has informed such companies it would stop their activities in case they perform any unlicensed activities.
According to the motamar.net sources, the ministry's warning letter has been addressed to Yemen Mobile, Spacetel, and Sabafon, notifying them legal procedures will be taken should there be any violations to the agreement items signed for their operations.
Well-informed sources, moreover, told the motamar.net that the ministry has received complaints from citizens about what they called "extortion" by the Sabafon Company. Complaints also indicated the Sabafon Company sends short messages asking subscribers to support resistance in Lebanon and Palestine, cancer patients, and sometimes the company subtracts money from subscribers without permission. Citizens asked the ministry to stop such exercises by the Sabafon Company, pointing out that donations are used for political parties' interests.
