Almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh called Wednesday on the international community to form an international force for confronting the pirates in collaboration with international forces and the countries situated on the Red Sea and the Arab Gulf. President Saleh said an effective international force must be formed to prevent these events and hated acts.
Attending a graduation ceremony today of two batches of masters degree in police sciences and a number of training courses in the police academy the president reiterated Yemen's condemnation of piracy acts in general against all Arab and foreign ships.
The president also drew the attention to recent improvement in performance of security apparatuses, noticeably after the 5th time of security deployment. President Saleh said piracy is enlisted among terrorist acts. They are am abhorred terrorist act and that the ministries of interior and defence and the navy and coast guard have to perform their duty well so that to secure ships and navigation in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea. He expressed his regret of what the Somali pirates are doing, reminding o Yemen's humanitarian stands towards the brothers in Somalia.
President Saleh said," Yemen embraces many thousands of Somalis in al our cities and we host and treat them generously but it is much regretted this is the answer to the favour, to kidnap ships at the time we bear great economic, social and health burdens for 18 years and we are still receiving our Somali brothers in Aden, Shabwa, Hadramout, Taiz, Hudeida and everywhere and welcome them as brothers." He wondered if the answer to favour is to kidnap a Yemeni ship carrying 600 tons of construction materials from offshore Muklalla to the Somali coasts.
