almotamar.net - Yemen Minister for Human Rights Huda al-Ban on Sunday has called on civil society organisations I the Arab homeland working in the area of rights and public freedoms to train new numbers of those having knowledge in human rights in a deep and distinguished manner so that to play their role in dissemination of knowledge related to this important issue.

She said training on human rights is essentially a project to enable activists and those interested in master basic knowledge necessary for their liberation from all sorts of suppression and to plant the sense of responsibility regarding rights of individuals and public interests. She asserted that curbing violations against people�s rights and non-aggression lie in enlightening the society about its basic rights and teaching them on how defending them in the appropriate time in addition to exposing those responsible for violation of those rights.

The Human Rights Minister, addressing the regional symposium on building capacities of human rights activists and information in the Gulf countries and Yemen organized by the Human Rights Information and Training Centre HRITC in cooperation with the Future Foundation, the minister expressed her thanks for choosing Yemen as venue for holding this vital programme, affirming the importance of continuous training on principles of human rights and their implications for the development of activists and media persons skills for defending them against any violations.

The minister said the mass media are the most capable of playing a decisive role in affecting the courser of human rights and just their role in establishment of awareness about these rights. She said non-government organisations have always been a major factor in spreading rights and freedoms and there is a need for increasing cooperation and coordination between roles of the governmental and non-governmental organisations regarding their activities in teaching human rights and training on their issues.
