The principles included pledge to work for adopting the quota system in all elected councils at a percentage of 15%, reformation of the electoral system in Yemen to enable the woman participation in positions of decision-making especially the issuance of a; aw forcing political parties adopt the woman nomination in their electoral lists and adoption of curricula teaching human rights at different study stages for the purpose of enhancing the woman participation in the political life.

The principles declaration came at a symposium on empowering the woman participation in the election process organized by Human Rights Information and Training Centre Hritc on Wednesday in the capital Sana’a in cooperation with Middle East Participation Initiative MEPI.

The declaration of principles issued by the symposium called on all civil society organisations to play their role in dissemination of awakening about the woman political and social rights with the operative laws in this regard and to include schools and universities.
