almotamar.net - An official source at the General Secretariat of the General People�s Congress GPC categorically denied reports by some Arab and local newspapers alleging they were a GPC proposal on extending the term of the present parliament. The source made it clear those stances of the GPC in this regard is declared and clear and there is no way of suspecting them and that the parliamentary elections scheduled on 27 of next April are a constitutional right and historical responsibility and irrevocable national commitment.


The GPC source reiterated his call for all political parties and forces to take part in the upcoming parliamentary elections as they are a democratic right owned by the people rather than of any of the political parties.


The source called the attention to the futility of promoting such rumours which he deemed as desperate attempts for hindering the elections and to idle the constitutional institutions.

Meanwhile, meetings of the local permanent committees and conferences of the GPC branches in the constituencies and districts are continuous for the second week running amid a popular unanimity on the importance of the great national right and scoring a new democratic victory to be added to the national victories of the GPC.
