By:almotamar.net - SANA�A- The number of women candidates for local elections has reached 164, with the majority belonging to the General People�s Congress (GPC), well-informed sources at the Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum told the almotamar.net.

The increase in the number of female candidates, according to sources, is attributed to President Ali Abdullah Saleh�s call to support women candidates representing various political parties.
The sources added the number of candidates for the local elections exceeded 18,000 in all the provinces excluding Taiz and Abyan where statistics have not been announced.
