Almotamar.net - The Women national Committee WNC called Sunday on the parliament not to back off from approving the amendments on the personal status law in Yemen that included determining the marriage age at 17 years.

The WNC call came amidst attempts led by the Islah Party ‘Muslim Brotherhood in Yemen’, from inside and outside of the parliament for rescinding its decision.

While in a message, almotamar.net obtained a copy of it, the WNC has sent to the parliament praised the approval of some amendments concerning the woman , among them fixing the minimum limit of marriage at 17 years for both sexes , it has shown fears from possibilities of the parliament backing down from that decision. The message addressed the parliament Speaker on attempts by small groups inside the parliament and from some hard line forces from outside to return this article for deliberation and expressed the hope that there will not be any backing off from its approval, which was approved even before and after the Yemeni unity.
