By:almotamar.net - SANA�A- The National Women Committee (NWC) has sent a letter of thanks on behalf of all Yemeni women to HE President Ali Abdullah Saleh for his brave and remarkable stance in supporting women candidates to run for local council elections.

The NWC indicated President Saleh figured prominently in increasing the number of women candidates as he received them Saturday in the Presidential Palace, where he affirmed his support for them. Women candidates, in this regard, unveiled President Saleh�s speech has strengthen their determination to run for the local elections, thus increasing their number from 53 to 163 candidates.

On the same front, Female Journalists League Forum (FJLF) expressed thanks to HE President Saleh for supporting women candidates, and calling on other parties to uphold them. The FJLF appreciated Saleh�s care for women issues.
In its statement, the FJLF was surprised at the Joint Meeting Parties� stance towards women candidates that disappointed them.
