Almotamar Net - The process of polling to elect a new chairman for Yemeni journalists and the Yemen Journalists Syndicate YJS council started Sunday midday on the second day of the 4th general conference of the journalists union. The general conference was opened on Saturday with participation of 1277-member constituting the general assembly of the YJS in addition to attendance by delegations from the International Journalists Union and Arab Journalists Union.

Almotamar.net - The process of polling to elect a new chairman for Yemeni journalists and the Yemen Journalists Syndicate YJS council started Sunday midday on the second day of the 4th general conference of the journalists union. The general conference was opened on Saturday with participation of 1277-member constituting the general assembly of the YJS in addition to attendance by delegations from the International Journalists Union and Arab Journalists Union.

The polling and vote-counting was also set up at the session of today. Before the beginning of voting the chairmanship of the conference read out names of candidates for the YJS chairman and its council. The conference hall contained the candidates’ platforms and poll boxes were put in the hall.

A state of chaos happened in the conference for a while forcing the managing committee to evacuate the hall and the participants returned later while some candidates for the union council were absent and other ones withdrew before voting process.

In addition, the conference formed a committee for challenges. Then the process of polling began in accordance to alphabetical system.

The general conference of the YJS is to elect members of the syndicate council and a new chairman to succeed the present chairman Nassr Taha Mustafa. Four candidates are contesting for the chairman post, the most successful of whom is Yassin al-Masoudi.
