Almotamar.net - Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi has confirmed firmness of the Yemeni –Gulf relations, saying Yemen relations with all the Gulf Cooperation Council GCC states are proceeding from common interests. Al-Qirbi affirmed Yemen’s confidence in the GCC states monitoring movements of the elements that finance calls for secessionism and taking measures against them. He said the GCC states refuse any threat to security and stability of Yemen.
Al-Qirbi added in an interview to Al-Bayan newspaper the Yemeni security authorities observe movements of the secessionist leaderships that are active in territories of nearby states to support the secessionist movements inside and Yemen knows that there are persons in some Gulf states do not respect generosity of hospitality and try to take advantage of their presence I those countries for offering financial and moral support to the elements that adopt secessionist calls.
He pointed out that the speech of President Ali Abdullah Saleh was clear regarding this process “because if we want to deal with these flaws, that would not be done but by dialogue via constitutional institutions and legitimate political action. “
He said concerning those who are moving from inside the GCC states to support the secessionist movements, Yemen is certain that the GCC states , while monitoring what happen would take their measures because the GCC states refuse any threat to Yemen’s security and stability.
On the Yemeni initiative presented to the latest Arab summit the foreign minister said it was not ruled out of meetings of the summit but on the contrary it was enlisted in Doha because the general secretariat of the Arab League did not receive the written decision of the Arab parliament about it but in Doha.
On the western reports warning about the situation in Yemen and advising of adopting a federal system, al-Qirbi said that rep [orts of research centres in America and Britain proceed from their interests and from an agenda that that may not be confined to just Yemen but an agenda for the region as a whole . he added the agenda they propose , such as federalism and others , are in the end issues to be considered by Yemen to take what serves its security , stability and unity and “ our present direction is the local rule of large powers and expansion of the base of the people’s participation and that the local leaderships in the provinces would bear the responsibility for tackling all shortcomings existing in the governorates.
In respect of transferring the Yemeni Gitmo detainees to Saudi Arabia the minister said the United States requests from Saudi Arabia only and there are countries that refused that and others expressed their readiness for cooperation with the United States to receive the Yemeni and other detainees . There is, however, an important point with respect to the Yemeni detainees which is if “we are asked to accept the transfer of Yemeni prisoners to another country we would refuse that. “The minster affirmed that Yemen’s attitude is clear i.e. “we want them to be handed over our prisoners and we did not give any condition and did not ask from them any money.” He made it clear that when the Americans said they wanted the detainees rehabilitation as the Saudi Arabia did and that they would assist us in that we told them we are ready but that was not a condition. “
