Almotamar.net - The political advisor to President of the Yemen Republic, the 2nd chairman of the General People’s Congress GPC, the ruling party in Yemen, Dr Abdulkarim al-Eryany said on Thursday he does not expect that Ali Salem al-Biedh to do anything more than secession, adding that Ali Salem al-Biedh was the one who declared the se session and “I do not expect from him to do more than he had done.”

In an interview to Yemeni 26 September weekly published Thursday Dr al-Eryany added that Haydar al-Attas, whom al-Eryany previously described as a secessionist to the bone, closed doors to understanding after his latest talk to Al-Jazeera Satellite Channel.
On not taking advantage of his friendship with al-Attas to bring closer viewpoints, al-Eryany said, “The east is east and the west is west and would not meet. He has gone eastward and I have gone westward or vice-versa, “but al-Eryany added that neither the homeland nor the unity nor democracy is hostage to al-Attas and Abdulkarim al-Eryany.
Moreover, al-Eryany confirmed that the unity generation does not feel suffering of the fathers and ancestors who lived the days of separation, demanding the media and education to publish awareness and deepen this concept among the generation of the unity as well as spreading of justice. He said, “The new generation might give the impression that there is no justice and there is no equality and because it did experience that stage and might be duped by this talk but the guarantee of justice and equality before the law are the major safety valve for protecting the unity.

Al-Eryany considered the call for the re-establishment of the precious state of the south and the return of its sultans as a voice that does not have even an echo but he confirmed what the president of the republic has previously said that the unity is the ceiling and whatever under that ceiling is liable to discussion. He said, “If there was a grievance it would be discussed and removed and if there was an injustice against someone he has the right to demand the case or end that injustice. The President said “Under the ceiling of the unity ask what you want and you would have what you deserve but to demand what is not my right, it is unacceptable. “
Al-Eryany said the first gain of the unity is represented by ending the direct conflict among g the sons of the homeland and the achievements of the unity are the democracy, political pluralism, the freedom of the press and the freedom of expression, this is the intellectual achievement of the Yemeni unity. As for the material achievement, it cannot be counted.

With its unity Yemen has achieved a regional and international role as well as political one and world interest that is impossible to be available in the state of disintegration, al-Eryany sad and added the Yemeni unity is a factor of stability for the region as a whole and what come contrary to that cannot be a source for security and stability of the region. The Yemeni unity today is more significant in realising security and stability of the region.

Al-Eryany addressed a message to all those who do not believe in this fact saying,” He who thinks that tampering with the principle of unity would bring international or regional sympathy on basis of security and stability, he is mistaken. And he who thinks if Yemen were divided would be more secure and stable, that is the apex of the strategic mistake rather than the political.”

On the matter of postponing the elections, Dr al-Eryany said, “It was an inevitable evil but linking election postponement to issues of dialogue and making necessary amendments was fore more democracy, more transparency and for more of balance in the election process and despite the postponement was not internationally welcomed but the internal circumstances imposed all that for guaranteeing the participation of all. “

Dr al-Eryany considered the more important of the decisions came out from the second session of the General People’s Congress GPC 7th General Conference was the n necessity of drawing up a general frame and a timetable with the opposition for achievement of the principles that had been agreed on and had led to elections postponement . He also affirmed there must be a roadmap for dialogue and to lead it to its right place at timetables. He, meanwhile, warned against any hindrance in dates of dialogue, “If the dialogue dates were delayed the agreement would be a disaster on democracy as a whole.”

Al-Eryany also confirmed the existence of laws impeding the local rule with full powers and said these must be amended during the next two years. He stressed on the necessity of talking about a full-powered local rule, citing the speech of the President of the Republic in Aden last year when he described it as full-powered local rule and that means there must not be any central law contradicting that.

Regarding the media al-Eryany said the media have to give prominence to the fact as it is and this also is applied to the official media instruments.

He added that continuation in dealing with the opinion and other opinion is the way leading to reaching maturity in issues of the media of which neither the official nor the opposition media have reached.
