Almotamar.net - It is scheduled that the parliament would in its next session, in a fortnight, would refer a law for the judicial power to the parliamentary committee of justice and endowments to study it, after a delay in parliament due to differences between the judicial and legislative powers over imprisonment of MP Ahmed al-Barti before lifting immunity from him.

According to the explanatory memorandum the new draft law aims to strengthen independence of judiciary financially and administratively and giving authorities related to judges affairs to the Judiciary Higher Council and the role of the justice minister would be confined to presenting what his ministrys Judicial Inspection Body presents.

The draft law also included disengagement of presidency of the Higher Judiciary Council from chairmanship of the Supreme Court so that to remove the duality in performance of the two functions, as long as the first are administrative and the second is judiciary.
