By:almotamar.net - SANA'A- A specialized anti-corruption committee starts today looking into four corruption cases as a preliminary step towards opening other corruption files.
Elaph news website cited well-informed sources as saying President Ali Abdullah Saleh has ordered to form a special committee that includes a number of prominent, social figures whose task is to search, prepare and study corruption files of economic and political high-ranking figures. Saleh stated investigations will focus on the political funds, but not commercial funds of known businessmen. The committee will then refer them to court for investigation to receive fair trial.
The committee, according to Elaph website, was formed after some political parties tried to exploit election campaigns by talking about corruption cases for some politicians. The committee includes a number of politicians, judges, lawyers, businessmen so that they can look into various corruption cases, without excluding any high-ranking figure, and that the committee will work according to absolute loyalty to Yemen, a way from partisan, tribal or sectarian influences.
Elaph added that the committee members will not be announced for fear of others' influence on them. Only what the committee issues will be announced. The committee held Friday its first meeting to discuss and pinpoint the priority of its tasks, noting that it would finish its national tasks within two weeks at maximum, with the help of a number of concerned governmental bodies. The committee will include a number of figures who represent almost all political parties.
