By:almotamar.net - SANA'A- Head of the Islah Political Circle, Mohammed Qatan, confessed his party has ignored women's political rights, stating there are forces within the party that deter women from getting their political rights and nominating them in the September local council elections.
"I confess that we have responsibilities and duties towards women. We pray to Allah to help us overcome such responsibilities after the September elections. I don't deceive and don't know about whether we (in the Islah) suffer from problems towards women and giving them their rights," Qahan added.
This came at a time when women accused the Islah of deterring the GPC efforts to adopt the quota system, by means of which women are to be granted 15 percent of the local council seats.
For his part, Mohammed Abu Lohoum, member of the GPC General Committee, said the GPC is ready to transfer power should the JMP's presidential candidate wins provided that the JMP should not doubt the election results.
