CNN channel quoted Commander of the American Central Command General David Petreaeus as saying that the United States intends to double the volume of its assistance to Yemen from $70 million to $150 million.

Almotamar.net - The United States of America announced on Sunday its intention for increasing the volume of its development and security assistance allotted for Yemen to reach to more than $150 million. CNN channel quoted Commander of the American Central Command General David Petreaeus as saying that the United States intends to double the volume of its assistance to Yemen from $70 million to $150 million.

He added that America would provide more economic assistance to Yemen to help Yemen translate objectives of development plans as well as increasing security assistance to enhance capabilities of Yemeni forces in confronting terrorist elements and elements of al-Qaeda organisation.

The US military commander has confirmed that the US does not intend to send any land forces to Yemen to confront al-Qaeda organisation. he added,� We will not send forces to Yemen territories for direct interference against a;-Qaeda,� adding that they are keen to support the state�s efforts and strengthen its security capabilities in facing the danger of al-Qaeda.
