Almotamar.net - US Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs Jeffrey Feltman has confirmed that the assistance his country offers to Yemen in fighting al-Qaeda organisation is different than the help that it offers to the Arab Maghreb countries for combating al-Qaeda organisation in the Maghreb countries.
In an interview to the London-based Al-Hayat newspaper Feltman said the Administration of President Barack Obama actually offers assistance to the Yemeni government in its war on al-Qaeda but he denied the information mentioning that there are American soldiers taking part beside the Yemeni forces.
President Barak Obama was clear concerning that we do not have soldiers on the ground and we do not intend to deploy soldiers on the ground. What we want to offer is to help the efforts which the Yemenis exert themselves, said Feltman.
On the accusations of Iran that it supports the Houthis in Yemen, Feltman said they are greatly aware that Iran has a history in interfering in a very negative form in affairs of other countries, similar to what happened in Iraq and Lebanon and in other issues Iran played very negative role through financing by non-governmental sides to carry out acts of violence. We have heard the special theories and analyses that this matter is happening in Yemen presently and we take this analysis seriously, Feltman said.
