Almotamar.net - The General People’s Congress (GPC), the ruling party in Yemen, renewed its adherence to the dialogue, considering that the dialogue is an ethical and political value on the one hand and the best means in dealing with issues of difference with the partners in the political life, on the other hand.

In a letter to the parties of the JMP, the GPC also reiterated its sticking to what had been agreed on in February 2009.

In its letter the GPC renewed its call on the JMP for direct and responsible dialogue on the three articles of February agreement so that to reach free and honest elections in April 2011, stressing that mater necessitates fulfilling the three articles in a period not exceeding the end of May 2010.

The GPC has considered the JMP’s evading from dialogue on the articles of the agreement, that is obligatory for the two sides and according to it article 65 was amended and the parliament term was extended for two years, as to lead to more complication in the political scene, holding the JMP parties responsible for what would entail that and “you will be responsible for that before all.”

The GPC letter pointed out to the suggestions President Ali Abdullah Saleh proposed to the Secretary General of the Yemen Socialist Party proposed to the Secretary General of the Yemen Socialist Party (YSP) Dr Yassin Nouman in a meting on 13 March 2010, attended by Abid Rabu Mansour Hadi, the First Deputy Chairman and Secretary General of the GPC as well as Dr Ahmed Bin Daghr, the GPC Assistant Secretary General, as suggestion and ideas aimed for bringing closes the viewpoints and overcoming difficulties of an agreement which was about to be concluded between the GPC and the JMP.

The suggestions proposed by the President to leaderships of the JMP consisted of four points, namely, signing executive minutes for February agreement by the parties represented in the parliament on behalf of their allies and partners, the agenda of the dialogue has to be what February 2009 agreement contained, and the parties signatory of February agreement 2009 should meet to form the dialogue committee on basis of equal numbers , 50% for each and the last point stipulated “ for preparing atmospheres and climates during the signing of the abovementioned minutes the media campaigns between the two sides should stop.”

While the GPC, in its letter, expressed its regret for the JMP ignoring of the proposals offered by the President, the GPC considered the President’s proposals as a new opportunity provided for all parties to reach an agreement, confirming that the proposals achieve a big amount of balance for the dialogue two sides and reflect the President’s keenness on gathering all parties of the dialogue at one table.

The GPC confirmed its clinging to the presidential proposals, saying “ we view them as a practical outlet for carrying out what we had agreed on and what precluded the signing of it was your insistence on deputizing the preparatory committee in the signing , a step that was not logical and not even clever in the political criteria.”

The GPC letter to the JMP reminded it of the draft agreement, affirming readiness of the GPC to sign it now, if the parties of the JMP returned to reason and decided to practice their political role directly and shouldered their national responsibility. “

The GPC addressed the JMP by saying in its letter, “regarding what you have mentioned in your paper concerning the release of political prisoners and journalists, as you clam, we affirm out commitment to what the leadership had directed and that is by sending them to justice as an implementation of the law and in achievement of justice.”

In the end of its letter, the GPC called on the JMP to commit to he text of the draft agreement regarding transparency of the committee work and publicity in the way enabling the public opinion, the brethren and friends to follow up its works and not to seek for new forms or attempt to rely on others from inside or outside the country.
