almotamar.net - The ruling General People’s Congress Party (GPC) in Yemen has reiterated its commitment to implement February 2009 agreement signed by the political parties represented in the parliament in letter and spirit , rejecting at the same time to accept any conditions which the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) are putting outside the agreement.

In a letter sent to leaderships of the JMP, the GPC said, “The GPC would not back down from its commitment to implement February agreement in letter and spirit and we have not put any one condition outside its texts whereas the parties of the JMP have put conditions which are not in the essence of the agreement.”

The GPC message addressed by the Second Deputy Chairman of the GPC Dr Abdul Karim al-Eryany to the JMP’s Higher Council head Dr Abdul Wahab Mahmoud, has criticized the falsities included in the JMP letter sent to the GPC the beginning of this May.

In his reply to the JMP letter to the GPC on 2 May 2010, al-Eryany refuted the falsity that he told them about the President of the Republic reservation on two points of the draft agreement; one related to release of the remainder detainees and the second concerning partiality of state-run media outlets in their dealing with the opposition.

The GPC letter also expressed denunciation of falsification mentioned in the JMP letter on the submitted proposals, adding that al-Eryany had told them verbally and in writing two suggestions on overlooking those two points. The letter added that concerning the remaining of the detainees the suggestion was that the committee suggests inclusion of them in the general pardon announced by the President of the republic in Hadramout, for similar reasons.

The letter clarified that the JMP ignored the suggestion and issues on 24 of last April a statement in which they insisted on the immediate release of the remaining detainees.

The GPC affirmed in its letter its refusal to attempt of the JMP to change the dialogue into an occasion for imposing its will on the GPC It said,” What we cannot accept those that raise the separatist flag, block roads, attack both public and private property, kill people on basis of identity and launch aggression dignity of citizens, those are criminals and you have to defend them before judiciary.”

Concerning the suggestion regarding the state=run media outlets , the GPC letter mentioned that he GPC t had clearly that all the official media would not stand against the opposition except regarding the right to respond guaranteed to any institution of the state when it is exposed to criticism by any party whatsoever.

The GPC letter expressed wonder on the JMP objection to change suggested in the dialogue committee, adding that a number of the JMP members of the committee were absent and were replaced by others of the JMP selection and the GPC did not object to that.
