Almotamar.net, Saba - Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul Karim al-Arhabi affirmed on Monday the Yemeni government's appreciation for the U.S. initiative to raise the ceiling of developmental support offered to Yemen.

Chairing the enlarged- meeting of coordination between the Yemeni government and the U.S. government represented in the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), al-Arhabi pointed to the importance of enhancing the current cooperation between Yemen and the U.S., so as to meet the needs of development in Yemen.

He said that the U.S. initiative to finance three main programs aims to contribute to the development of the local societies and enhance the government efforts to strengthen potentials of the good governance, auditing and evaluation at a total cost of USD 183 million within the growing development in the cooperation relations between the two countries.

He looked forwards to an effective role by the U.S. to response to the development needs in Yemen, and to strengthen the frames of future cooperation between the two friendly countries.

For her part, the Charg� d'Affaires of the U.S. embassy in Sana'a Angie Bryan affirmed his country's keenness to enhance the frames of current and future partnership with Yemen, noting that the U.S. has a long-term vision to support the Yemeni government efforts to build up the development potentials in Yemen.

She drew that the U.S. government represented by the USAID has developed a new development strategy to support Yemen based on the response to the development needs of Yemen, so as to strengthen the efforts of the Yemeni government to combat poverty and hotbeds of anti-extremism and terrorism.

Minister of Finance, Nu'aman al-Suhaybi said that the ceiling of the current U.S. support for Yemen is still low, stressing the importance that the U.S. plays an active role in supporting Yemen's development capabilities by responding to the needs of development in Yemen, which faces many challenges including combating terrorism and extremism.

For his part, Minister of Interior, Mutahar al-Masri indicated to the level of growing security cooperation between Yemen and the U.S. in the field of combating terrorism.

Ministers of Justice, Youth and Sports, Social Affairs and Labor, Agriculture and Irrigation presented different interpositions on strengthening the cooperation between Yemen and the U.S. within the new strategy presented by the USAID.

The USAID's Director Dr. Give reviewed details included in the new strategy of support to Yemen, praising the current cooperation between Yemen and the U.S.
