aLMOTAMAR.NET, sABA - The government ordered on Tuesday Minister of Planning and International Cooperation to coordinate with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to sign finally a financing agreement of Economic Opportunities Program (EOP).

In its weekly meeting chaired by Deputy Prim Minister for Security and Defense Affairs, the cabinet dealt with EOP agreement which was signed with IFAD initially on April 21, 2010, under which IFAD grants Yemen about 8.5 million Special Draw Rights (SDR).

The Economic Opportunities Program (EOP) targets poor men and women, who have small farms of coffee or who want to grow vegetables, and those who do not have a farm and will to grow vegetables and to work in beekeeping in the rural areas.

The EOP focuses in its first phase on coffee-producing areas in eight provinces of Apian, Amran, Dhamar, Hodeidah, Ibb, Lahj, Taiz and Sana'a. Later, the program will cover other provinces and other products such as Honey.

The program seeks to create economic sustainable opportunities for poor people.
