Almotamar.net, Saba - The ruling General People’s Congress (GPC) party in Yemen and the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) represented in the parliament signed at the parliament Saturday a joint minutes.

The joint minutes are for the implementation of February 2009 agreement. The agreement is related to forming a committee preparing for the comprehensive national dialogue, under the auspices of President Ali Abdullah Saleh.


According to the minute, the two sides agreed to give a chance for all political parties and civil society organizations to discuss constitutional amendments on the political and electoral system of the nation. The two sides also agreed to meet in order to determine their representatives in a joint committee for preparing the national dialogue.

Moreover, the minute stated that the two sides should comply with decisions of the committee, and meetings of the committee would be broadcasted for public.

The minute was signed by representatives of both sides.

President Saleh considered the signature as positive step to resolve the political crisis and open a new phase as the nation is for all not only for ruling party or opposition.

He called on the two sides to stop media campaigns against each other. We are all partners in the political life and the nation is for all, he added.

For his part, the GPC second vice president Abdul Kareem al-Eryani announced the signature on the minute of carrying out the national dialogue.

The JMP representative Abdul Wahab Mahamoud expressed happiness to sign the minute under sponsorship of president Saleh, wishing that the coming period would witness further cooperation and trust to achieve big tasks and gathering all Yemenis.
