Almotamar.net - The European Union has allocated 4.2 million euro for the support of the poorest segments in Yemen through a programme of conditioned money orders to some t6rgeted areas with the aim of enhancing direct social protection and raising the level of school attending.

This programme is aimed at tackling many of issues relating to social protection such as improvement the income level, improvement of getting education in rural areas as well as improving health services and increase in the rate of enrollment in education.

It is also expected this programme would generally contribute to alleviation of poverty, enhancement of rural development and improvement the level of food safety in the targeted areas.

Head of the European Union mission in Sana�a has pointed out assisting the Social Care fund is an important matter in order to enable the social security network in Yemen to protect the poorest segments and mitigating impact of monetary reforms.

The European Union is considered the major donor to the Social Care Fund and has presented a 14 million euro worth support since 2006 to a number of activities the Fund is carrying out. The European Union intends also to offer sup [port with 7 million euro in the next period.
