By: Mohammed al-Haidari - SANA'A- Yemen has increased expenses on educational sector up to YR 179 billion, an official report released by the Ministry of Education says.
The report states the government has increased expenses on education from YR 149 billion in 2004 to 179 billion in 2005.
According to the report, the educational sector has seen great improvements at all levels and phases. Education expenses have increased from YR 90 billion in 2000 to YR 134 billion in 2003, and YR 178 billion in 2005.
The rate of education expenses amounts to 21.4 percent out of the state's budget, and represents 6 percent of the gross national production, which is higher comparing with neighboring countries.
The report, of which almotamar.net obtained a copy, further notes that public education acquired the largest allocation, i.e., YR137 billion, while expenses of the technical and vocational training amount to 8 billions, and higher education YR 33 billion.
