By: Jamil al-Jadabi - SANA'A, (almotamar.net)- Head of Planning and Technical Affairs at the Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum (SCER), Mohammed al-Sayyani, said the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) refused to receive an electronic copy of the electoral roll last Tuesday for unclear reasons.
In a press conference held Thursday, al-Sayyani denied that the SCER was late in giving the electoral roll to parties, in accordance with the agreement of principles, expressing at the same time the SCER is worries about leakage of the voters' data and female voters' photos. He warned of legal proceedings and lawsuits to be taken against them in this regard.
Al-Sayyani also announced the SCER has finished printing and preparing the voting cards for the presidential elections, and started three days ago preparing those of the local council elections.
According to al-Sayyani, 81,000 voting boxes have been prepared, under the supervision of the SCER, and that there are 27,010 voting committees nationwide, of which 15,000 for men and more than 11,000 for women.
Parties were supposed to submit the names of heads and members of voting committees on 27 August to the SCER, but the delay on the part of the JMP would affect the process of training these committees. Al-Sayyani wished the SCER would receive names of heads and members of committees in the coming hours.
