Almotamar.net - The Republic of Yemen has confirmed its gong ahead in implementing the goals of millennium for development and incorporating it within the 3rd five-year plan for economic and social development and poverty alleviation, and called for international partnership for development for achieving goals of the millennium as they are considered the cornerstone for achieving them. Yemen has called in the mean time the donor countries to give bigger interest to less developed countries that are still lagging in achieving the goals.

That came in the speech delivered by Yemen�s Foreign Minister Dr Abu Bakr al-Qirbi on behalf of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, head of the 77-group and China, to participants in the 65 session of the UN General Assembly held with participation 140 leaders and heads of state allotted tor revising and assessment what has been achieved of goals of development of the millennium declared 10 years ago and the world economic crisis led to undermine the lots of accomplishing them.

The Yemeni President�s speech has given prominence to the volume of the challenge facing the international community five years before the grace period defined for achieving the goals drawn up by the millennium summit in the year 2000 and which they would not be achieved in 2015 without the work of the international partnership for development as it is the cornerstone for guaranteeing achievement of the millennium goals.

The President�s speech also emphasized the importance of working for raising the level of the support offered by the donor countries and availing more resources for achieving goals of eliminating severe poverty and starvation , guaranteeing basic education for all , enhancement of equality between the two genders , empowerment of the woman economically and politically and enhancement of public health services.
