Almotamar.net - Yemeni Navy forces were able at 07:1o a.m., supported by Yemeni marines 1st brigade, to arrest an Iranian fishing ship to the south of Socotra Island. The ship entered the Yemeni regional waters in an illegal way without obtaining previous permission from the concerned authorities.

A source at the command of the Yemeni Navy and Coastal Defence Forces has sais in a statement to 26 September newspaper , said that boats of the Yemeni Navy Forces spotted early Thursday a foreign ship heading towards the depth of the Yemeni territorial waters . The naval boats directly followed the ship by a joint naval patrol from the marines first brigade and a number of Navy Forces boats.

The source added the number of the Iranian ship crew is 21 persons and it is believed that all of them hold the Iranian nationality.

The source affirmed that the crew of the violating ship has attempted to flee the area but the naval boats chased it and forced the crew to surrender after surrounding the ship.

The source clarified that the arrested ship with all of its crew was led to Hulaf port, the main position of the forward Navy point of Socotra Island.

The source concluded that that the retrained ship had sailed from one of the Iranian seaports along Oman Sea towards the Yemeni regional waters with the purpose of carrying out illegal fishing operations.
