Almotamar.net - A meting of talks between the General People’s Congress “GPC”, the ruling party and the Chinese Communist Party. For the GPC side the meeting was chaired by Sheikh Sultan al-Barakanni, Assistant Secretary General at the GPC for Political Affairs and External Relations and for the Chinese side by Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Guo Shengkun.

There was in the session a review of areas of cooperation between the two countries and the two parties within the frame of the protocol signed between the GPC and the Chinese Communist Party besides exchange of expertise, coordination of stances towards different international issues , horizon of enhancing partnership and cooperation for fighting piracy and realization of security and stability in the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden and the Horn of Africa , confrontation of phenomena of extremism and terror , in addition to raising areas of cooperation in various development fields and investments in areas of industry, agriculture and oil and minerals and other areas.

At the beginning of the meeting, al-Barakani reviewed the distinguished historical relations the two friendly countries. He cited the depth and strength of this relation with the monuments of tombs of the Chinese workers in the cities of Sana’a and Al-Mukalla.

Al-Barakani praised the Yemeni-Chinese relations which Yemen established as one of the oldest relations with countries as well as the continuous development of the relations of the two countries. He expressed his hope that the relations would witness continuous growth and pinned hope on the friends in the Chinese Communist Party for pushing towards more Chinese investments in Yemen especially under the economic development witnessed in China.

Al-Barakani has also emphasized keenness of the GPC on developing those relations continually.

He said the call of Yemen will remain open to the friends in China, adding “we are keen on developing the bilateral relations between the two countries and on eating broader areas of cooperation in the economic, exploration of minerals and oil and agriculture.

Al-Barakani affirmed that the Yemeni delegation to visit China soon, would include members of the General Committee of the GPC and some members of the parliament in addition to other GPC cadres and leaders.

For his part the Chinese delegation displayed redness of it party for increasing exchanges and cooperation with the GPC for increasing the bilateral relations.

Head of the Chinese delegation, Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Guo Shengkun said Yemen is one of the first Arab countries that established diplomatic relations with China and that China considered Yemen as a dependable friend.

The Chinese official added that the two countries witnessed in exchanges in areas of culture, education and public health in addition to the fruitful energy and commercial exchange and other areas.

He has affirmed that the Chinese Communist Party is willing to strengthen more the exchanges with the CPC and push forward the friendly relations between the two countries. He described development of relations of the two parties as strong especially that they were based on mutual respect.

The Chinese official expressed readiness of the Chinese party to call the Chinese investors to visit Yemen and learn the investment privileges and opportunities in Yemen, reiterating his party’s affirmation to push towards more Chinese investments in Yemen.

He also praised the developments in Yemen arena and the developmental and democratic achievements and the bilateral relations between the two organisations and the friendly countries.

He said, “We are confident that the cooperation between the two counties would grow effectively,” affirming his country’s stand by Yemen in protection of the unity, security and stability.

For his part, he GPC’s Head of the Political office Abdullah Ahmed Ghanim presented a brief explanation of the nature of the organizational structure of the GPC in Yemen.
