Almotamar.net, Saba - The cabinet welcomed on Sunday the German decision to resumption of receiving passengers flights coming from Yemen. The cabinet said that the decision came after the German competent authorities made sure of the safety procedures in the Yemeni airports.

It expressed his appreciation of the European Union's countries, which kept on receiving the flights coming from Yemen, particularly France and Italy.

During its weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ali Mujawar, the cabinet was briefed on a report of Transport Minister on the procedures adopted in the Yemeni airports, which included intensifying of checking and screening processes on all passengers' flights and their luggage and adopting exceptional screening on cargos departing Yemen by air in addition to toughening control system on air cargo companies and offices.

The parcel bombs incident's repercussions on Yemen's reputation and economy and the unjustified ban of some countries on air cargos coming from Yemen were also addressed by the cabinet.

It called on such countries to reconsider their decisions, particularly after their security delegations visits to Yemen and making sure of the strict safety procedures taken at the Yemeni airports.


The Cabinet approved has also Yemen's accession to a Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children.

The cabinet's approval was based on a presentation by Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi. The cabinet ordered to finalize the legal procedures to join the protocol.

The protocol is a supplement to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime. It was adopted by General Assembly resolution 55/25. It entered into force on 25 December 2003.

It is the first global legally binding instrument with an agreed definition on trafficking in persons.

The intention behind this definition is to facilitate convergence in national approaches with regard to the establishment of domestic criminal offences that would support efficient international cooperation in investigating and prosecuting trafficking in people�s cases.

An additional objective of the Protocol is to protect and assist the victims of trafficking in persons with full respect for their human rights.
