By: almotamar.net - SOCOTRA- The General People's Congress (GPC) held Sunday an electoral rally in Socotra. In the rally, Ali Abdullah Saleh, GPC's presidential candidate, delivered a speech in which he greeted the people of Socotra. "I am happy to attend this electoral rally. I have visited Socotra Island many times, and seen steady progress, in the field of education, health or investment," Saleh said.
"I call for more investment in this Island, and preserve its environment. A community college is to be established in Socotra, funded by Kuwait state. A stadium will be also established, and next year an improved electricity network will be set up. We all take pride on the accomplishments realized in this island," Saleh added.

Saleh noted that Socotra has been given much attention, which is evident in the Airport established a few years ago. "Every year Socotra becomes more improved. Investors will come to Socotra and will be given all facilities, whether local or foreign investors."
Saleh made it clear that the Ministry of Water makes efforts to complete water projects and water dams in the island. "What is beautiful is that Socotra, like Hadhramout, is characterized by calmness, security, and stability and sticking to the law. There is no riot, revenge. We have to preserve the outstanding customs in this great island," Saleh said.
