Almotamar.net, Saba - Vice President Abdu Rabo Mansour Hadi inaugurated on Saturday in Hajjah City an anti-schistosomiasis campaign, which aims to protect 3 million citizens who are over the six-year age.

During the inauguration, Hadi gave the first doses of schistosomiasis treatment for some students at Al-Hamati School in the city of Hajjah.

In a statement to media, Hadi urged and called on all the local and official authorities at the deferent levels to provided full cooperation to the workers of this campaign in the targeted districts for the success of the campaign and its goals.

The campaign, which is financed under the six-year project to combat schistosomiasis funded by a USD 25 million grant of the World Bank, is implemented in 38 districts in the provinces of Sana'a, Dalei, Hajjah, Dhamar, Raymah and Mahweet.

In this regard, Regional Deputy Director of the WHO Abdullah al Saadi praised efforts made by the State, represented in Ministry of Public Health and Population, in the eradication of diseases, including schistosomiasis.

He expressed his hope that these efforts would continue in partnership with the WHO and other organizations working in the health field.

On related news, Hadi opened at the Al-Thawrah Public Hospital in Hajjah activities of the free medical camp for eyes diseases, which lasts for one week.

Following the opening, Hadi got acquainted with the camp's activities and the cases that are examined and medicated.
