Almotamar.net - A meeting for leaderships of the General People’s Congress (GPC) presided over by President Ali Abdullah Saleh, leader of the GPC ruling party, held in Sana’a Wednesday approved conducting some constitutional amendments in the way guaranteeing development of the political system, moving to the system of local rule of large powers and enhancement of opportunities of the woman participation in the political and public life.

The meeting emphasised going ahead in holding the upcoming parliamentary elections on time in free, honest and transparent climates in consideration of the elections are the essence of the democratic process and a constitutional and democratic right owned by the Yemeni people through which the people express their will in choosing representatives in the legislative power and the peaceful transfer of power via the polling boxes.

The meeting called on all the political forces for active participation in taking part in the constitutional and democratic right in the manner realizing the national interest and consolidating the democratic process.

The meeting has also discussed a number of issues related to the developments in the national arena, at the top of which the draft constitutional amendments, preparations for holding the upcoming parliamentary elections on time and in the light of passing amendments of the elections and referendum law, formation of the supreme commission for elections and referendum from judges in addition to the electoral programme of the GPC in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

President Saleh talked in the meeting at the outset of which he congratulated all for the great success achieved in Yemen’s hosting of Gulf 20 Championship, expressing his appreciation and thanking for all the efforts exerted by the higher committee for supervising the organisation of Gulf 20, chaired by Dr Rashad al-Alimi and all those who contributed to the success of those activities and produced the in that successful and honoring picture.

The President indicated what achievements realised on the sidelines of that championship at the level of the infrastructures or security or administrative performance , affirming continuation of this spirit for achieving all future tasks , at the forefront of which the constitutional and democratic right represented by the upcoming parliamentary elections on time in free and honest climates.
