Almotamar.net - The General People’s Congress (GPC), the ruling party in Yemen on Sunday called on the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) to reconsider their stances away from wrangling and to positively take part in the electoral process, interact with the democratic pursuit, enhance the development march and not to squander the higher interest of the homeland.

In its letter sent to secretaries general of the parties of the JMP represented in the parliament, the GPC emphasised that the Yemeni people , with all their segments and their political and social groups and elite, are going ahead towards practicing their electoral democratic right on 27 of April 2011 to express their choices through the boxes , after they have carried out a number of successful democratic elections : parliamentary, local and presidential , the matter that would push them to participate in the upcoming elections with determination and insistence.

The GPC said in its letter,” The parliamentary elections are at the forefront of people’s issues and rights in reliance on the constitutional and legal dates and as also being considered as people’s constitutional right not liable to postponement or monopoly or dealing with outside the higher national interest. “

The GPC renewed the emphasis that what is related to the electoral process, as a constitutional right, is no longer a topic for dialogue but has become today in the phase of the constitutional and legal implementation after it has been undertaken by the parliament and the constitutional and legal institutions in compliance with their responsibility whether that was in the electoral process or the constitutional reforms, pursuant to article 158 of the constitution that authorized the parliament wit the request of the constitutional amendments.

The GPC has held the parties of the JMP responsible for failure of the dialogue, saying that their previous negative stands have driven the dialogue to a deadlock, missed opportunities and wasted the time which was available for finishing what the two parties were intending to discuss.

Addressing parties of the JMP, the GPC letter said, “ The insistence on staying in the same square consolidates your political obstinacy which does not go in line with the serious opportunities and initiatives that we have presented out of the keenness on the national partnership and sailing the ship of the homeland which carries all of us to the safe destination under the banner of unity, democracy and social progress , among that the willingness of forming a government of national unity for running the elections and formation of a post elections national unity government , regardless of their results , and that was out of our sense of national responsibility and keenness on avoiding the homeland of any slip towards chaos and sedition. “”
