Almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh has met in Sana’a Sunday with the members of parliament in the General People’s Congress (GPC)’s parliamentary bloc.

The meeting discussed many of issues and development in the national arena and the challenges the homeland is facing under the state of congestion and what the dialogue is facing of deadlock as a result of hard stands of the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) and refusing until now to respond to the efforts for the dialogue , including the initiative by president Ali Abdullah Saleh in his speech before the joint meeting of the parliament and the shura council , which included a package of reforms in addition to his call on the political forces for the serious and responsible dialogue in the way realizing the higher national interest.

During the meeting there was open discussion that dealt with the issues concerning the homeland at this significant stage as well as the role of the parliament and its members as a legislation power and representatives of the people in confronting all the challenges facing the homeland and its security, stability and unity and gains.

A number of parliament members talked in the meeting where they renewed their support and blessing of the initiative of the President proceeding from his keenness on avoiding the homeland from the serious consequences of sedition and conflict and on achieving the political, economic and social reforms for progress of the homeland. They emphasised the necessity of resorting to reason and logic and to give priority to the national interest by parties of the JMP by responding to calls for the national dialogue through which it would be possible to address all the issues and challenges and to overcome the dangers facing the homeland and its security, stability and unity. They indicated that the national responsibility dictates on all now to place the interest of the homeland above all self or partisan consideration because the homeland is for all and it is the responsibility of all.

They stressed the necessity of continuing the efforts in the field of the administrative and financial reforms and tackling any flaws in the manner achieving the interest of the homeland and the citizens. They have also affirmed their stand by the constitutional legitimacy and efforts of the political leadership, represented by the President of the republic, for accomplishing all the national tasks to which the sons of the people aspire for.

They have indicated that the current stage necessitates the joining of all national efforts for the interest of the homeland and that it is time to demonstrate the stands supporting and siding with the homeland and its stability and refusing of all forms of turning against democracy and the constitutional legitimacy. They affirmed that the hesitant and defeated are themselves who are squandering their principles at the first turning-point and that such ones are not an honour for the homeland or the GPC to join them.

The participants in the meeting pointed out the importance of the role that should be played by members of the parliament , whether inside the parliament or in their constituencies in confronting of all destructive plots and calls aimed at instigating the sedition , igniting fires and spreading chaos, destruction and violence in the society , calling on all sons of the homeland to be attentive regarding advocates of those calls and to abort their conspiratorial plots against the homeland and its sons and against security, stability and social peace.

They emphasised that “our people who offered dear sacrifices in the past in defence of their revolution, their republican regime and their unity would not squander their gains , at top of which their unity and their pluralist democratic approach. “

They said if the some have chosen to go to the street with the aim tension and staging a coup against democracy and constitutional legitimacy “we have resorted to arbitration of the people who are the source of all powers and owner of the real interest in democracy, freedom, renascence and progress.”

They have also confirmed the importance of the peaceful transfer of power via ballot boxes which avoid the homeland sedition and chaos and safeguard stability and public peace and all national gains the homeland achieved under the banner of the revolution, the republic, the unity and the democracy.”

The meeting was attended by Speaker of the parliament Yahya al-Raei and the Prime Minister Ali Mohammed Mujawar.
