Almotamar.net - Mukalla (south of Yemen)-Leader of the General People�s Congress (GPC) and its candidate for the presidential elections Ali Abdullah Saleh welcomed in Hadramout Monday 118 persons representing the Yemen Socialist Party (YSP) and the Yemeni Congregation for Reform party (Islah) who joined the GPC.

In his meeting with them in the city of al-Mukalla on Monday he said �As you know our political system was established on the 2nd of May 1990 on multi-party system and on programs and this is the best and most ideal manner forte Yemenis without an implication of a totalitarian system. Our system is politically pluralist and programmatic.� President Saleh added �The past consequences tense the matters because the political forces do not know bout what they want and due to wrong understanding, and ach force seeks to attain the power and wants to change this country from a pluralist into a totalitarian system.� Ali Abdallah Saleh also said the GPC groups all political spectra: the socialist, the Nasserite and all the mature forces that tried the left and he right and the nationalists and that have chosen the center party that accommodates all the citizens and the honorable.

Mr. Saleh also said it is not a defect that a number of socialists join the GPC because in this way they have joined their own party because the YSP is an essential partner in the unity, indicating that some of the influential leaderships had made the problem of what happened in 1994. He said �Our hope was in the holding of the YSP general conference to arrange situations of the party and we support the party to help it. We were able to exclude it in the events of 1994 but we said how we can do that? It would have been infidelity by us with one that put his hand in ours and both achieved the most important accomplishment and it is unacceptable to expel it, we help them. Regretfully, they have violent and sick leaderships that destroyed the party. We given them all properties and rights of the party and the Muslim Brotherhood Movement seized them. We told them you allied with them and must restore those properties from them and change your past conduct and then you will return our partner.�
The president indicated on the other hand that the Islah is a patriotic current and has three trends: the trend of the Muslim Brotherhood Movement, the Salafi trend and the tribal trend to which joined scholars and personalities for fear from the incorporation of the YSP after the unity and so they formed one bloc. After the unity no head was cut and no politician was imprisoned absolutely, president Saleh said and asked I the residents of Hadramout have a political prisoner from the Islah or the YSP and added there is not despite the provocative political address against feelings of the homeland rather than against him personally or the GPC. The president has further said the homeland is bigger of all parties and nevertheless there is that illogical provocative address practicing blackout on the people, claiming everything is corruption and there is nothing. There are the influential and the corrupt in the institutions but that does not mean to torpedo everything.
The GPC ids the party of the middle and moderateness there is no money or bribery in it, it has values and morals and it preserves its members. This is the GPC in Hadramout and in other areas, the president said.

About 118 members of leaderships and cadres from the YSP and the Islah in the districts of al-Qatan, Shibam and Tarim in Hadramout had announced their joining the GPC in an official statement read by sheikh Saeed Salem Saleh. The statement mentioned their resignation from the JMP in acknowledgement of what has been achieved in the era of president Saleh since the establishment of the unity. They said they recognize those great changes and greatness of he leader in his political administration and that urged them to declare their absolute political loyalty to the program which President Ali Abdullah Saleh has laid its structural and democratic pillars, affirming they would be sincere soldiers in the ranks of the GPC.
