By: Mohammed al-Haidari - SANA'A- The Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum (SCER) reached an agreement with the political parties on signing a special statement for holding weapons-free elections, said Abdu al-Janadi, information officer at the SCER.
.
Secretaries-general of the political parties participating in the September elections will attend Thursday or Saturday to the SCER's information center to hold a press conference in this regard, al-Janadi noted.
"Violence and democracy never get together. All the political parties have to be honest and hold elections without violence. We have to leave armed confrontations and resort to the law," al-Janadi stated.
"President Saleh had to run for presidency as people exerted pressure on him. Now he is going from one governorate to another searching for voices. In case another candidate wins, Saleh will transfer the power as he believes in peaceful transfer of power, "al-Janadi added.
Meanwhile, the SCER threatened to refer mobile telephony companies to the court should they use their services for electoral propaganda.
For his part, Mohammed al-Sayyani, head of Technical Sector at the SCER, made it clear that the SCER has approved adding 333 electoral committees throughout governorates provided with computers that show the electoral register ( voters registers).
